Bargain
hunting on steroids can be one way to describe the events below for those shopping.
For those thinking of having a sale community wide garage sales/events are a great
way to increase traffic to your sale. Some of the larger ones attract people from
across the country. Here are some of the more prominent sales that we know of.
Others will be added as more information becomes available. If you know of one

Alabama:
The
start or the end of the 127 corridor sale occurs here. This year the 127 corridor
sale is 9 days long from August 2-9. Click

Alaska:
Saturday October 12,
2002 a community wide garage sale was held in the Centennial Hall in Juneau Alaska.
Arizona:
Arkansas:
"Bargains Galore on
64" held along US 64 from the Arkansas-Oklahoma border to Conway Arkansas.
One person who set up a booth for this event claimed to have seen 4,000 to 5000
people. This is the sixth year for this 130 mile sale which is held August 11-13,
2005. Thanks to Linda Hiles, coordinator who gave an update on this event.
California:
One
of the oldest citywide garage sale events is held each year in El Cerrito Califorina.
October 18, 2003 marked the 14th year of its existance.
The City of Campbell,
California will be having its second annual City Wide Garage Sale, "Campbell On
Sale", Saturday, October 11, 2003. There is no fee. It is free to participants.
The City will promote, organize and advertise the event. The City's goal is to
reduce waste, reuse and recycle items which might otherwise be disposed of in
our landfill. Over 400 households participated last year.
Los Gatos California
- Over 300 garage and yard sales going on throughout the Los Gatos, Monte Sereno
and unincorporated parts of this portion of California. This event is held annually
around the third weekend of May.
City of Cupertino, California- City wide
sales event 6 years running, this event was offered on Sept. 22 and 23 of 2001.
Almost 400 registered garage sales were offered last year.
Fallbrook CA,
south of LA, near San Clemente will be having a spring Garage Sale April 3, 2004.
Imperial
Beach California sponcered a city wide garage sale on May 3, 2003
City of
Sunnyvale California, Citywide Garage Sellabration! - Eight Years running, this
event is held each year around Earth Day (Apr 22) to encourage the reuse of items
that may end up in the landfill. This event has a interesting hook, you provide
the garage sale and the city of Sunnyvale will provide the newspaper advertisement.

San Carlos
California, 25 miles from San Francisco will be holding it's 5th annual Citywide
Garage Sale on Oct 13, 2003.

Santa Clara residents were registered for their 4th annual Citywide Garage
Sale held on August 2, 2003.
South San Francisco held its annual citywide
garage sale on Sept 27, 2003
Santa Ana California citywide garage sale dates
for 2004 will be the first full weekends of the months of March, June, September,
and December. Santa Ana is near Long Beach CA.
Colorado:
Some
70 miles north north east from Denver is the town of Kersey Colorado. Their All
Town Garage Sale, held June 28 of 2003 was a "HUGE
SUCCESS" according to the chamber of Kersey web site.
Connecticut:

April 24, 2004 will be the date of the 14th annual
Town-wide Yard Sale in Delaware City Delaware.
District of Columbia:

City
of Palm Bay Florida will host their First Annual City Wide Garage Sale on Saturday
April 2, 2005 from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm. Palm Bay is located in Central Florida
on the Space Coast just off I95 exit #173 and 176.
Georgia:
In May 13 - 16 U.S. 11 Antique Alley event will have stops from Wildwood, GA to
Rising Fawn, GA.

Kamiah ID Chamber
of Commerce hosted a Area-wide Yard Sale May 3 of 2003.
Illinois:
Saturday April 26 is the date for Trenton Illinois Citywide Garage Sale
Located
some 22 miles from downtown Chicago, the Mt Prospect IL will host a citywide garage
sale April 30 to May 2nd 2004.
Toulon IL held a citywide sale on June 5,
2004.
This came from Marie via email. Bronzeville is an Historic African
American community in Chicago, Illinois. It is where Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong,
Richard Wright, Langston Hughes and many other notable African Americans started
their Journey. Prior it was a community of Chicago Elite after the Chicago Fire
thus it is the site of many mansions. People can come and view this architectural
and cultural rich community as they go from one garage sale to the next on July
24, 2004. Antiques, architectural pieces, collectibles, LP's, furniture, jewelry
and just about everything can be found at this community wide sale. at least 35
households will participate.
Indiana:
South Whitley Indiana has
set the official date for their town-wide garage sale. The date was April 24,
2004. South Whitley is about 50 miles west of Fort Wayne.
Wanatah Indiana
held their Town-wide garage sale on June 14, 03
Muncie Indiana - Sponsored
by a local newspaper The Star Press, this event had more than 5000 people attend
the Community Garage Sale event on April 13 of 2002.

September 27, 2003 is the date for the City-Wide garage sale
in Wamego, KS
Ossage County Kasas held a unique event in April 2003. Four
cities in this county held consecutive citywide garage sales. Burlingame held
theirs April 5, Carbondale, April 12, Osage City had its sale on April 19 and
Overbrook on the 26th of April.
June 5 of 2004 Bell Aire, Baldwin, Kechi,
Lebo, Strawn and Park City in Kansas held citywide garage sales.
Kentucky:
The World's Longest Garage Sale - The 127 Corridor Sale - Imagine
garage sales for as far one can see. Here is an event that offers
garage sales as far as one can drive. This annual event is 15 Years
running and started as a way for promoters to bring traffic from
the more traveled, nearby interstate to lesser traveled roads of
Tennessee and Kentucky. The event starts in starts in MainStrasse
Village in Covington Kentucky and ends 450 miles away in Gadsden,
Ala. Held in August of each year.
"400 Miles of Antiques and Stuff"
June 2nd through 5th will be the dates for this years 400 Mile
Sale across Kentucky. Starting at 2430 Greensburg Rd. (Hwy 68) Campbellsville,
KY. According to this website
people from as far away as California, to Canada attended the event

Provincetown held a Monumental Yard Sale May 18 - 20, 2002
According
to the Concord Monitor and New Hampshire Patriot, Pittsfield held their townwide
yard sale on June 14, 2003.
Michigan:
The Village-wide garage
sale of Romeo Michigan was held on while Sandusky was on June 14 of 2003
Freeland,
MI held a city-wide sale on April 2, 2004
Michigans longest garage sale
is the US 12 Heritage Trail Sale held this year on August 23.
Minnesota:
The 85 Mile Garage Sale along the Mississippi River from Red Wing, Minnesota on
the north to Alma Wisconsin to the south will happen this year from April 30 to
May 1 and 2, 2004. Hotel rooms start filling up by the end of March. The advice
is to get a place to stay quickly if you plan to attend. Over 100 Garage sales
could be found in Lake City, MN one of the stops in this event.

Mississippi:
Meridian Mississippi is
the start (or the end) of the 6th
Annual US 11 Antique Alley. This event has more than doubled in size for 2004
to over 500 miles meanders along US 11 to Bristol VA. The happening as it is known
on their web site will take place from May 13 - 16 2004.
Missouri:
April 24 is the start of the sixth annual Bolivar Citywide Garage Sale. Bolivar
is North of Springfield MO.
Grain Valley Missouri has one of the longest
running citywide garage sale event. It attracts over 200 sellers last year and
is in its 21st year.
Neosho's 14th annual citywide garage sale was held
April 3rd, 2004. With around 6,000 - 8,000 participants it claims to be the largest

Carthage MO will have
a citywide
garage sale on May 8th, 2004.
Montana:
Nebraska:
The Pawnee City Nebraska city wide garage is held twice each year, the first Saturday in May and October. The garage sales are open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and offer a wide variety of good used items. There are usually at least 30 locations with two or three families going together. Maps are available at each location.
The West Point Nebraska Chamber of Commerce holds an annual citywide garage sale.
In the first week of June, Atkinson hosts a citywide Garage and Downtown
Sidewalk Sale.
Valentine Nebraska can be found about 8 miles from the South
Dakota border nestled in some really pretty country. They had a city wide garage
sale on July 5 of 2003.

23 was the date for the first annual town-wide yard sale held in North Woodstock.
New
Jersey:
Stillwater New Jersey held their 35 annual "Garage Sale Plus"
July 19 of this year.
New Mexico:

The
World's Largest Garage Sale ... THE WARRENSBURG GARAGE SALE October 4 - October
5, 2003 in Warrensburg NY. When this is held the population of Warrensburg grows
from 5,000 to over 70,000 making this one huge event. This event started in 1979
and there was approx. 1000 venders last year. Fees are charged for prime locations.

first ever Yard Sale-o-Rama May 29, 30 and 31. The Yard Sale-o-Rama
is Liberty's town-wide yard sale. Over 75 individual residential

Garage Sale on May 10 of 2003
April 23 - 25 are the dates given for the
Great Oregon Coast Garage Sale. This sale wich will be in its fourth year is held
in Lincoln City, OR. This

Banks, OR hosts a city wide
garage sale on the 24th of April, 2004.
Winston, OR is planning a citywide
garage sale, sometime in June, 2004.
Phoenix and Talent hosted a city-wide
yard sale from at least 1999 to 2003 on the first weekend of May. This year it
will be May 8.

Longest Garage Sale - The 127 Corridor Sale travels through towns like Jamestown(where
it had its beginnings) Pikeville, Dunlap and Chattanooga. A lesser known Antique
Alley Yard Sale meanders through Chattanooga, Knoxville and Kingsport Tennessee
on its way from Mississippi to Virginia.
Texas:
This came to
Luv2Bid via email... 18 miles of Garage Sales: Yard and Garage Sales starting
at City of Ladonia, Texas townsquare to Bug Tussle, Texas to Pecan Gap, Texas
to Ben Franklin, Texas on Saturday, June 7 starting at 8 am to 5 pm. Many families
along the route. Get maps at Ladonia townsquare gazebo showing locations.
Held
on the third full weekend of April and September is the Antique alley AND Yard
Sale held each third full weekend of April and September from Grandview, TX to
Cleburne, TX. An
estimated 20,000 people attended last years event coming from as far as Canada.
Highway
80 Garage Sale - Held on two weekends during October ( in 2003 it is held
from October 9-12 and 16-19). It starts in Bossier, Louisiana and finishes in
Grand Prarie, Texas.
From the Bellaire website: We have one garage sale
per year and it is always in April.
Floydada
held a city wide garage sale on July 12 2003. The chamber of commerce also
handed out Krispy Kremes in the city square on that day. Floydada is some 50 miles
from Lubbock.
Utah:
Silver Springs, a town outside of Salt
Lake City, scheduled a "large-scale"
garage sale in the parking lot of their Recreation Center.
Vermont:
Brandon Vermont hosted a citywide yard sale on August 9, 2003. Brandon is
located close to New York about 40 miles straight south east from Montpelier.
Virginia:
The Antique Alley Yard Sale, now known as the US 11 Antique Alley has a Eastern
end in Bristol Virginia. Don't confuse this with the Antique alley AND Yard Sale
held each third full weekend of April and September from Grandview, TX to Cleburne,
TX.
Washington:
Over
2500 maps containing all registered sales are printed for the annual Ferndale
Community-Wide Garage Sale held the first weekend of May.
The third Saturday
in September the McCleary Chamber Community Chamber of Commerce co-sponsers a
city-wide garage sale. McCleary is close to Olympia Washington.
Mountlake
Terrace WA had a city wide garage sale on May 2-4, 2003. The treasures that didn't
sell could go to the curb for the city's free trash pickup on May 7. Mountlake
Terrace is very, very close to Edmonds Washington.
West Virginia:
This came from an email:
"There is an annual yard sale in Buckhannon,
W Va. the sale is going on in the whole entire town. This year it is Aug. 7th,
8th, and 9th.I felt this was worth mentioning".
And there is an
annual yard sale in July in Harrison County, W Va. In the community of Quiet Dell.

Wisconsin:
Thirteen communities along the Mississippi River from Red Wing, Minnissota on
the north to Alma Wisconsin to the south will take part in a 85 mile garage sale.
This event happens May 2,3,4.
Chetek WI - Citywide Garage sale held on
June 7 and Sept 13 of 2003
May 15, 2004 Ashland, WI - Billed as Wisconsin's
largest
house -to-house garge sale will take place.
Wyoming
The
4 Community Garage Sale was held at the Teton County Fair Building in Jackson
Wyoming on May 4 of this year.

The
average college student throws away 640
lbs. of trash each year. An organization named Dump
and Run, has, since 1999, organized yard sales on college campuses reselling
some of this stuff and giving the proceeds to local charities. One such event
held in Nova Scotia raised an amazing $15,000 by keeping some six box trucks full
