Kodak No. 3A Series II

A
wonderful example of art-deco styling this is a Kodak 3-A series II Folding Pocket
camera was produced between from 1936 to 1941. The 3-A series II was 9 inches
tall and 4 and 1/2 inches wide, much like earlier versions of the Kodak Model
3-A. According to it's manual this particular 3-A features an Anastigmat Lens
"machined to 1-50,000 of an inch of perfection", made of two kinds of
Jena glass, barium crown, and flint. It originally cost $75.00
Most antique folding Kodak cameras are still quite a bargain considering there
age and how they sold for comparatively much more when they were first made. This
camera is worth a little more than the earlier model 3-A.
Unlike
some collectibles, the model 3-A camera's price hasn't been adversely affected
by the emergence of eBay. 10 years ago, according to the 1992 - 1993 McKeown's
price guide these cameras were worth between $35-50. TThis one, in excellent condition
can sell for as much as $125 on eBay.
